THE SGARALLINO FAMILY

From the Tuscan coastal city of Livorno, the Sgarallino family – owners of Pieve di San Giovanni – has long been connected with the sea. When brothers Andrea, Jacopo and Pasquale Sgarallino took up arms for Giuseppe Garibaldi and his fight to unify Italy in the 1860s, the family were ferry operators in the port. Since then, a host of family interests – boat building, marine supplies, chandlery and the Porto di Cavallo yacht marina – have continued the Sgarallinos' long-standing involvement with the territory's rich maritime traditions.
