RESTORATION

The Sgarallino family purchased Pieve di San Giovanni in 2005. Long-abandoned, the building was in a ruinous state when restoration began in 2006. Consolidation work on the walls and foundations led to the discovery of an ancient stone baptismal font, now visible beneath a glass floor in the living area. A sensitive 5 year restoration eventually brought the Pieve back to vibrant life, marrying traditional materials with contemporary décor and low-impact energy consumption.
